Property registration cost estimator
Estimate stamp duty, registration fee and other charges on a property from the percentages you enter, and see the total cost.
How it works
Stamp duty = value × your stamp duty %. Registration fee = value × your registration %. Total cost = value + stamp duty + registration fee + other charges. We do not list the percentages, because they differ by state, property and buyer, and they change. The percentages filled in are only examples.
How to use it
- Type the property value used for registration.
- Type your stamp duty % and registration fee %. The filled-in numbers are only examples.
- Add any other charges in rupees and read the total.
Worked example
On a value of ₹50,00,000, an example stamp duty of 5% is ₹2,50,000 and an example registration fee of 1% is ₹50,000. Together that is ₹3,00,000, so the total outlay is ₹53,00,000.
Common mistakes
- Using the sale price when the record uses a different value for duty. Ask which value applies.
- Using a percentage you heard from a friend. Rates change and differ by place, buyer and property, so confirm yours.
- Leaving out document writer, loan or agent charges. Add them under other charges.
